“When life changes to be more difficult, you must change yourself to be stronger, change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.”  -Dr. Wayne Dyer

As a society, we are resistant to change and remain stuck in our old habits. If we know something works, why fix it? One reason is that we fear the loss of control. If you do not understand someone’s ideas, it is difficult to teach others. And if you let someone else teach then you are giving up that power. On the other hand, maybe you fear the unknown. If you are influenced by inconsistent leadership, negative past experiences, or poor communication then you are more inclined to associate negative feelings with change. However, when people are so stuck in their old habits, there is no room for growth. How do you expect to improve when you are stuck doing the same things?

The world is constantly changing, and we need to adapt to it. Take COVID-19 for example. Successful people during this time were able to pivot and make changes despite the lockdown. My firm, the Diamond Group Wealth Advisors, places a huge emphasis on letting go of some control and gathering input to create a change in client’s lives. Since we customize plans toward financial independence, we need to be flexible with all the different wants and needs. The pandemic did push limits that we didn’t know we could overcome.  We knew more about ourselves.  We believe that leadership is about overcoming change, and that starts with you being flexible.

Change is change, no matter the scale. If you’re not ready to jump straight into a new habit, be flexible and alter a preexisting one. Just start small and work yourself up to bigger changes. For example, if you want to limit your phone usage, start with waiting an hour in the morning before going on it. Then add hourly breaks away from your phone. Soon enough if you make enough changes then you will start building habits that are sustainable for the future.

Embracing change starts with opening your mind. From there it is a ripple effect. If the small changes keep building up, they will gather momentum to affect the world around you.  The goal is the same, continue to Take Control of Your Work, Your Wealth and Your Worth.  That is the Savvy Women saying that we continue to push and work on all these years.
